The Rolex Capri Sailing Week 2021 enriched once again the Gulf of Naples from Monday 10 May to end on the 20th of May with the prize-giving ceremony in Capri, this year at the race village to meet the COVID-19 emergency security protocol.
The schedule for the RCSW 2021 was slightlylonger than in previous years. Given the high number of entries, the Organizing Authority decided not to overlap the Maxi Yacht Capri Trophy and the ORC European Championship in order to allow a greater number of yachts to access Capri Marina.
First major international event set to open the Mediterranean sailing season - 150 boats expected in the waters of the Gulf of Naples from 10 to 20 May for the three events of the RCSW 2021.
Maxi Yacht Capri Trophy
On Monday 10 May a fleet of maxi yachts will arrive in Capri marina, marking the official start of the Rolex Capri Sailing Week. The first day will be given over to registrations, preparations and training, with racing scheduled to take place from 11 to 14 May. The fleet will compete in a series of coastal races or races around inshore marks, with courses set by the Race Committee based on weather conditions. This first act of the RCSW will conclude on Friday 14 May with the prize-giving ceremony. After that, we move in Naples to start the second act of the RCSW.
The 66th edition, which this year is also valid as the offshore race for the ORC European Championship 2021, is open to multihulls, vintage and classic boats and double-handed crews.
On Saturday 15th at 10am there will be the flag-raising ceremony to honor the 20 nations represented. Then the Tre Golfi regatta will start, setting off from the Circolo del Remo e della Vela Italiain Naples between 7:00 and 7:30 p.m.
The fleet will have time until Monday 17th to complete the offshore race crossing the finish line in Capri (80-hour the time limit).
With the arrival of the Tre Golfi in Capri, the third phase of the RCSW gets underway.
From Tuesday 18 to Thursday 20 May, all the participants in the European Championship will compete in races around inshore marks to win the title of ORC European Champion 2021.
The Rolex Capri Sailing Week will conclude on Thursday 20 May with the prize-giving ceremony in Capri.
The regattas of the Rolex Capri Sailing Week (ORC European Championship, Maxi Yacht Capri Trophy and Regata dei Tre Golfi) are classified as competitive events of priority national and international interest by the Italian National Olympic Committee and the Italian Sailing Federation. Molecular or antigen testing has been organized for all participants (national and international) with a series of local health facilities. A specific safety protocol is available on the event website, with updates in real-time, which all participants are required to follow.
All races can be followed online thanks to the TracTrac tracking system (https://tractrac.com/) in addition to the media room on the RCSW website, and daily content and live coverage via event social media:
