«The International Maxi Association is delighted and honoured to continue our close association with the Rolex Capri Sailing Week 2019, including both the classical offshore race “Regata dei tre Golfi” – that is also part of the IMA Mediterranean Maxi Offshore Challenge – and the “Capri series”. Andrew McIrvine, IMA secretary general (the International Maxi Association represents the owners of Maxi yachts worldwide) has been inviting maxi owners to join the event – for months.
The event, scheduled for May 2019, will officially open the maxi sailing season in Italian waters.
«It has been such a pleasure to work with all the bodies involved in the Rolex Capri Sailing Week last year and the year before. Three of the most important and efficient Italian yacht clubs, meaning Presidents and teams, are already working hard in order to deliver another successful edition in just some months from now. Thanks also to all the sailing authorities, Italian and international – what a great team, for a spectacular event!»
Rob Weiland, Maxi 72 Class Manager: «The Maxi class including 4 Maxi 72s had great racing in the 2018 Rolex Capri Sailing Week and I am sure we will see a good mix of maxi racers and racer-cruisers return for the 65th anniversary of “Regata dei Tre Golfi”, and the following week in Capri. Most maxi yacht owners see the locations of Naples and Capri as the best locations in the Med to race as well as to enjoy life with family and friends. I sure am very much looking forward to see my friends in Capri and Napoli again, and to work with them on the 2019 edition».
